The Ring takes its form from the outline of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Twenty point eight kilometers of elevation change, blind corners, compression braking, and high speed surface variation that no other circuit on earth replicates. Manufacturers brought their prototypes there for one reason. The Nordschleife exposed everything. If a car survived it, the car was ready.

Lap times there became the language of serious automotive development. Drivers earned reputations by mastering it. Fans learned the corner names the way others learned capitals of countries.
